Vaginal Health

Is it too much of a good thing?

This is a sensitive topic but I’ll just come out and say it.This article is about vaginas. If you do not want to read about vaginas please quit reading now. Specifically this article is going to explain a treatment that can tighten vaginas. I think most people, either male or female, would agree that this is a good thing. I need to start by talking about vaginal anatomy.

The vaginal region is extremely complex, so to simplify it let’s imagine a hand towel, wrapped around a thick sock and squeezed by two hands. The hands represent the pelvic floor muscles that surround the vagina. The towel represents the vaginal muscles. The sock is the mucosa membrane that lines the inside of the vagina. It consists of an epithelium and an underlying layer of connective tissue known as the lamina propria. The muscles can be strengthened with Kegel exercises, but Kegels can do nothing for the sock. The integrity of the sock can be strengthened with a treatment known as IntimiLase.

IntimaLase is a simple, non-surgical laser treatment that causes restructuring and regrowth of collagen. The result is thickening and tightening of the vaginal walls. The treatment is a walk-in, walk-out procedure that takes about 30 minutes to perform. It is also relatively comfortable. No pain medications are required. After the procedure patients can leave and carry on with their daily routines with few restrictions. The result is enhanced pleasure during intimate relations due to increased friction.

The treatment can be modified to also help women who suffer from a common condition known as Stress Urinary Incontinence. In addition to treating the entire circumference of the vagina, additional passes with the laser target the anterior wall of the vagina to strengthen the urethra. The key to success with IncontiLase is patient selection. Women who leak urine 1 to 4 times per week are generally candidates while those who leak several times a day may only hope for a degree of improvement. I women who are prone to involuntarily pee a little would agree that being dry or dryer is a good thing!

It’s too, too, too Good!

Modify the treatment again and direct the energy to the mucosa membrane inside the mouth and this remarkable treatment can also reduce or eliminate snoring. This treatment is known as NightLase. I think we can agree on this too! Getting a good night’s sleep is also a good thing!
